On Sunday afternoon, October 11, hours after a stabbing was reported to the Oceanside police, a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
On Saturday evening, the victim and the suspect's estranged wife went out for a night of drinking. A few hours after the duo returned to the victim's home in the 300 block of Horne Street, the suspect arrived and confronted his wife, who was asleep on the porch. When the victim came outside to tell them to quiet down, the suspect began punching him.
In an attempt to protect himself, the victim held the suspect in a bear hug until the suspect calmed down a bit. Only after the suspect and his wife left did the victim realize he had multiple stab wounds from a screwdriver and called for help. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
Early Sunday afternoon, police dispatch received a tip that the stabbing suspect was over at the One More That's It Bar on the corner of Mission Avenue and Airport Road in Oceanside. Police searched the lounge and found the suspect inside drinking. His wife was found asleep inside a car in the parking lot. The suspect was arrested and booked into the Vista jail.
