San Diego police took a 17-year-old documented East San Diego gang member into custody on a curfew violation Tuesday, November 10, at about 11:30 p.m. after a disturbance in the 4200 block of 46th Street.
According to a police dispatcher via police radio, a person called 911 and reported a disturbance involving four to six Hispanic males fighting in the alley behind 4230 46th Street. The subjects were last seen running westbound through an alley behind Orange Avenue.
San Diego police units responding to the scene — including a police helicopter — quickly set up a perimeter in the vicinity. Police subsequently found a knife in the alley and detained the 17-year-old subject in the 4100 block of Chamoune Avenue.
A police officer told the dispatcher, “He is a documented ESD gang member.” Officers at the scene were unable to determine if a crime had been committed, other than the curfew violation.
