On Friday, February 27, at 10:15 a.m., on the corner of Diane Avenue and Kings Way in Clairemont, a 52-year-old man and his dog were attacked by two pitbulls while walking past the dogs' fence.
The two dogs bolted through a broken fence slat, targeting a lab mix named Chance. The man attempted to protect himself and his dog but fell to the street twice before the owner arrived to claim her dogs. A witness to the attack called 911, and police, fire, and animal control personnel arrived shortly thereafter. County Animal Control issued a citation and charged the owner for a license when proof of one could not be provided.
No additional enforcement actions will be taken against the dogs' owner unless another similar event occurs. Chance's back paws were bleeding after the attack and his owner declined transport to the hospital by ambulance.
