On Sunday, May 31, at 4:30 a.m., a Honda Civic traveling in the northbound lane of Westview Parkway struck the rear left side of a parked ’90s model Volkswagen Passat. The accident occurred between Galvin Avenue and Capricorn Way, across the street from Westview Park.
“It was dark and misty,” said the 25 year-old male driver. “I didn’t see the other car until it was too late!” The driver was not injured.
San Diego police were called to the scene and wrote up a report. The driver, who was not given a sobriety test, was instructed to leave a note on the car. Hours later, with no word from the owner of the damaged vehicle, both cars were towed away. Left behind on the side of the road were damaged bumpers and debris from broken lights.
Witnesses claim that the Passat had been parked on the street for over a week and may have been abandoned.
