One hundred thirty-one thousand baby rattles made in China for Infantino, LLC, a Sorrento Valley–based baby toy company, were ordered recalled on January 15 by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. The “Lamb and Lion Grabby Rattles” are made of plastic and shaped like a lamb and lion respectively and were sold at Walmart, Babies “R” Us, and other specialty stores. According to the recall notice, “the tail-piece on the rattles can detach, posing a choking hazard to young children. Infantino has received 10 reports of the tail piece on the rattle detaching since March 2008. No injuries have been reported.” Twenty thousand of the rattles were recalled in March of last year.
