On December 13, 2008, Thuan Phat Market celebrated its grand opening in Linda Vista at the site of the former Vien Dong Vietnamese supermarket at 6935 Linda Vista Road. The first 500 lucky shoppers on opening day were treated to a free bag of rice. Crowds were heavy, and shoppers were parking out on the street due to all of the spaces in the parking lot being full. Now that Thuan Phat has been open a couple of weeks, there are spaces in the parking lot once again. Thuan Phat is a Chinese-Vietnamese-American grocery store specializing in imported items from Asia, including specialty foods from Vietnam, China, Japan, and Thailand. The owner of Thuan Phat has eight other California locations. The supermarket portion of the store is open but there is still ongoing construction inside where a Yum Cha Dim Sum location is planned that will serve take-out dim sum.
