On Thursday, February 5, at approximately 2:30 p.m., outside Joe's Crab Shack in Pacific Beach, a car wound up on the boardwalk, nearly running over at least one passerby.
An Oregon couple visiting the area had their red Jeep parked beachside. The female driver had dropped her husband off to walk their dog. Moments later, the vehicle hopped the curb and came to a stop on the heavily populated boardwalk.
"I thought my foot was on the brake, but it was on the gas," she said. A startled bicyclist threw himself against the wall as the car bolted onto the walkway. San Diego police, lifeguards, firefighters, and an ambulance were on the scene in a few minutes. No one was injured, but the couple's dog, startled by the accident, went missing.
