The North Island Credit Union at 1101 Palm Avenue was robbed at about 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, December 2. A sheriff’s deputy at the scene acknowledged that the robber who fled the scene on foot might be the same person who robbed the credit union on November 6.
"He must be very familiar with the area. He probably has some buddies and they could be hiding,” the deputy said, waving her hand at the half dozen multi-family buildings surrounding the area, “in anyone of these apartment buildings. I may just wait until he comes out.”
A young woman washing her car next door at the self-serve car-wash said, “Everything was normal, then a lot of police showed up. It must be a bad location.”
When the credit union reopened they had a Heritage Security guard manning the door. When told he should have been there in the morning, he smiled, saying, “Everybody’s been telling me that.”
