I enjoyed three glorious months in Parikia, on the Cycladic island of Paros, home to poets, writers, artists and those in love with a peaceful lifestyle.
You can study art at the Aegean Center for the Fine Arts or the Hellenic International Studies in the Arts (HISA), where I taught painting and Eurythmy for a semester. Paros also offers classes, retreats and workshops in swimming, diving, sailing, yoga, dance, tennis and horse riding.
Take in a rich cultural heritage at the Greek Orthodox Church of a Hundred Doors, Ekatontapiliani, and countless other churches and monasteries on the island. If you visit during a religious holiday, you’ll experience music, dancing and colorful street festivities. Get used to walking everywhere – the narrow cobblestone streets of the old town are only accessible by foot.
Two hundred yards from the port and a short walk from Ekatontapiliani Church, the market, cafés, restaurants, nightlife and beaches, you’ll find the picturesque Hotel Aegean Village. Starting in September, they offer air-conditioned double rooms for 29 Euros a night. Contact Ms. Georgia at aegean.paros-accommodations.gr.
