Sacramento’s Capitol Weekly is out with its top-100 list of the biggest “influence peddlers, power brokers and political players in California.” Only two San Diegans, both Republicans, make the cut: Bob White, the ex-aide to Pete Wilson, and financier Gerry Parsky of Rancho Santa Fe. Of White’s California Strategies, Capitol Weekly says: “In some ways, the firm is the post-partisan, private-sector doppelganger to Schwarzenegger’s ideologically diverse inner circle. The collection of Republican and Democratic powerbrokers, media spinmeisters and strategists under the firm’s umbrella is impressive by any measure.” Last year White hosted a Sacramento fund-raising party for San Diego mayor Jerry Sanders, and White is expected to play a key role if Sanders decides to run for statewide office, as has been rumored. Regarding Parsky, Capitol Weekly said: “If there’s a board or commission that needs a leader, Gerry Parsky’s your guy. Or at least if you’re Arnold Schwarzenegger, then Gerry Parsky’s your guy.”
