Piano recital at Thearle Music Co., 640 Broadway, c. 1930. The Chicago-based firm opened a store in San Diego in 1903. The article that announced their arrival included this: "It has been and is today a notorious custom among many piano houses to have an 'asking' price on their goods which they do not expect to get, and then depend upon the skill of their salesmen to juggle with this and get all he can out of the customer and yet make the sale.... The new San Diego firm are believers in the one price method and have adopted it here, feeling that it is the more honorable method of selling."
