6-6-06 was supposed to see the reunited Slayer debut music from their first album in five years for around 11,500 fans at the Sports Arena. Unfortunately, this first date of the "Unholy Alliance Tour" was postponed when singer/bassist Tom Araya needed "minor gallbladder surgery," according to a publicist. The tour will instead begin June 10 in Peoria, Illinois, leaving some Slayer fans pissed and, in some cases, at a financial loss.
"I wuz gonna fly out [to San Diego]," says Jimson on the gauntlet.com message board. "Already got the plane tix and their not transferible...maybe I'll go scare tourists at Leggoland instead."
"I fuckn' paid $250 for second row [seats]," says GGmanga on the Blabbermouth.net board, "and I only get back the face price if I don't go to the [rescheduled] show, which I can't, cause I'm getting married that day."
Slayer will still release their new EP, Eternal Pyre, on 6-6-06, available exclusively at Hot Topic stores ("Their souls are due to Satan, not some mall blowjob parlor," says Jim Traficant at Blabbermouth.net). Slayer's last album, God Hates Us All (recorded before long-gone drummer Dave Lombardo rejoined in 2003), had the unfortunate release date of September 11, 2001. The band's San Diego show (with Children of Bodom and Lamb of God) has been rescheduled to July 20, where the original tickets will be honored.
