Filipina singer/actress Nora Aunor, who has a home in Linda Vista, pleaded not guilty April 21 to felony drug possession charges in an L.A. court. Associated Press reports say she was arrested March 30 at LAX while boarding a flight to Oakland, allegedly in possession of eight grams of methamphetamine. Airport screeners say they found the drug in a film canister inside a carry-on duffel bag, along with a glass pipe wrapped in a T-shirt.
Aunor has released around two dozen albums since winning a Filipino Star Search--type contest in 1968. Her musical variety show Superstar aired for 22 years. Her website claims she has "set all-time-high record sales and had more than 100 hit singles." The 51-year-old was booked at the Van Nuys jail and released the following morning. She remains free on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to return to court May 26.
