Hey, Matt:
What's the story on the bright yellow and orange flowers that always bloom along the freeways right about now? Someone told me that they are a result of truckers scattering flower seeds from their trucks. Is this true?

Why, sure, Marilyn. A project of the TBC, the Truckers Beautification Committee, a group from the Teamsters Union that's tired of staring at concrete all day. They have a deal with the Hell's Angels to do the watering and weeding. In Iowa they plant corn. In Maine there are lots of potatoes. And Marilyn, you may hear people say my story is crazy, that the flowers actually are planted and maintained by Caltrans, the state department of transportation-- but that's so boring. Even if it's true, you'll be happier believing in Johnny Dieselseed. Your friends may not know much, but they sound like fun to me.
