Local opera singers know Prim as the accompanist for San Diego Opera's chorus auditions and the annual Metropolitan Opera Auditions. She's also been the music director for San Diego Comic Opera for the last seven years. And she works in the San Diego Opera's outreach and education program as well as coaching private students. She studied under George Trovillo, a local accompanist and vocal coach who worked with some of the opera immortals such as Jussi Bjoerling. But don't call Prim if you've never studied voice. Call a voice teacher. Coaching, she says, is for when you have a technique in place and you want to add "musicality" to your singing. "I help the singer communicate the music to the audience. That's the ultimate reason for singing."
