Teniente Guerrero Park
Located six blocks west of Revolución between 3rd and 4th Avenues
This park proves that Tijuana is, after all, part of Mexico. While much of the city now resembles suburban San Diego (strip malls, Blockbuster Video, etc.), on Sunday afternoons Tijuana's working class flocks to Guerrero Park for traditional family gatherings. After attending Mass at Templo San Francisco de Asis, just across from the park, young couples settle on benches and coo. Dreamy families stroll beneath the trees. Kids scream for ice cream and popcorn. A band often plays in the big gazebo. And almost everyone wanders into Los Unicos, a tidy restaurant on Third Street, for carne asada tacos.
