Self-Realization Fellowship Meditation Garden
215 K Street, Encinitas
760-753-2888
The temperature drops as you pass under a canopy of gigantic tropical trees, marking your transition into the ocean-bluff garden once enjoyed by resident and spiritual leader Paramahansa Yogananda. Winding paths are lined with native and exotic plants. Sympathetic vibrations emanate from the picturesque miniature waterfalls and koi ponds. Though it feels spontaneous, each square inch of the meditation garden is carefully tended with lush ground cover punctuated by planted "color." Stone benches invite contemplation. The garden is open to the public free of charge, on a self-guided basis. You can quiet your mind 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Closed Mondays.
