TP Lounge
4977 El Cajon Boulevard, Talmadge
619-287-9505
Operating in the same location since 1947, the TP Lounge's customers say the bar's martini atmosphere and old-time feel can't be matched anywhere else in San Diego. Owner Derek Applebaum purchased the lounge six years ago. "It's a first stop and a last stop. People come here before they go out dancing and then they'll stop by again on their way home for last call." Applebaum says the most popular drink at the TP is the $6 Mission Impossible -- a layered drink containing several liqueurs, including Blue Curacao, Sambuca, Drambuie, Bailey's Irish Cream, and Kahlua. "I light the drink on fire and then, while they're sucking it down, I throw in the Bailey's and Kalhua and they have to drink it while it's still on fire, without stopping. It's a challenge to down the whole thing before your straw melts."
