Silver Strand Bike Path
Coronado
"A good place not too many people know about," says Howard Yeh, who runs the San Diego Street Elite inline skating club, "is south of Coronado Island on the Silver Strand. It was a 'Rails to Trails' project and now it's just a bike path that you can skate on or go running on. It goes straight down the strand paralleling the highway." Yeh says the path, which stretches 11 miles from Glorietta Bay Park to Imperial Beach, is uncrowded enough for advanced skaters who want to make some speed, yet easy enough for novices. "You don't have to worry about traffic because there are very few road crossings. And it's completely flat and straight and so you don't have to worry about hills and turns."
