Turman sits behind his 1889 Henri Dasson rosewood Victorian Revival desk and fights for his guests' needs and rights every day in the intimidating modern hotel world. While on his recent five-day vacation, he called Mrs. B. daily -- just to make sure she was getting what she needed. He knows which restaurants are hot, all of the local geography, and how to deal with crises. A recent challenge: finding 27 horseshoe nails within two hours for a presenter to give as mementos.
