San Diego Parasailing Adventures
1641 Quivira Road, Mission Bay
(619) 223-4386
Mixing the mechanics of sailing and the physics of hang gliding, parasailing carries boaters aloft into the wind, flying across the ocean water in saltwater-soaked bursts. Parasailing Adventures offers ocean excursions that last about one hour, for up to six people at a time (per Coast Guard regulation). Each passenger gets a turn as honorary captain, taking the helm long enough to fly the craft. Departures take place every 90 minutes at a cost of $59.95 per person. Parasailing is limited to summer runs that sometimes stretch into October, pending weather and demand. Passengers wear life jackets, and each craft has a captain and crew aboard. They run the vessel and do all the work while allowing the passengers to feel as if they're taking part in the procedures and operations. Advance reservations are recommended, especially for larger parties and holiday weekends. The same marina also offers jet-ski and kayak rentals.
