Bar owners are not about to risk legal reprisal by allowing smokers to light up while drinking, so the next best thing is to have an outdoor patio that is part of the bar. The smoking lounge at Aqua Bar overlooks the inside stage like a balcony as live bands play, and overlooks the dance floor when DJs are the main attraction. A full menu is served outdoors; dinners cost $12 to $21. Dishes include veal chops ($21.95) and rib-eye steak ($19.95) plus pastas and seafood snacks. The bar's satellite-TV feeds can't be seen from the patio, but there is an ocean view on the right side and a marina on the left, and one can catch glimpses through the tobacco clouds of distant Coronado and the downtown skyline.
