This situation will undoubtedly change in a generation or so, when recent Southeast Asian immigrants are more thoroughly integrated into the wider community. But for the moment, the older generations' ties are to their traditional language and religious groups. Why should the family pay for an obituary in the Union when the Vietnamese papers neatly reach those who need to know?
