I'm afraid you'll have to fire the elf who told you that butterflies are called "Milchdieb" in Germany. I've lived there most of my life and never heard that expression. The German word for butterfly is "Schmetterling." By the say, the most common butterfly in Europe is a small species that varies in color from ivory to deep yellow-- all the colors of the butter spectrum, so to say.

Well, the bugs don't know the difference anyway.
