Documentary by Jim Brown on the musical rise, political fall, and Carnegie Hall reunion of the McCarthy-era singing group The Weavers, who helped pioneer the folk boom of the Sixties. It is hardly more than a home movie, really. But it is humorous, engaging, and inspiring, to the degree that the people -- Pete Seeger, Ronnie Gilbert, Fred Hellerman, and Lee Hays, who died between the movie's completion and its release -- are. And that degree is high. (1982) — Duncan Shepherd
