A kill-crazy Vietnam veteran is summoned home to protect the local yokels from a horde of oil workers, who have besieged the town in Atilla the Hun style. He abuses his new authority by requisitioning machine guns, grenades, and bazookas ("We've got enough fire power here to re-take Saigon"), and by recruiting a mob of old Army buddies, racketeers, and prostitutes; and he finally aggravates his peaceable brother, who dresses in baseball cap and bluejean overalls, into a showdown. For all the fiery explosions and somersault stunts, the war between siblings suggests nothing so much as the neighborhood kids playing soldier. Don't these people -- Kris Kristofferson, Jan-Michael Vincent, Bernadette Peters, and Victoria Principal -- have anything better to do? Written and directed by George Armitage.
