What makes a pair of homicidal high school hit girls — looking to find a mentor and eager to up the number of hits on their popular website — think the bona fide serial killer they kidnap and hold hostage will cooperate with their plans? That’s just one of the twisted threads that hold together this tightly knit, laugh-out-loud horror comedy. A bleached Brianna Hildebrand (Deadpool) and a brunette Alexandra Shipp (X-Men: Apocalypse) play off each other to perfection. And the pair of quick-witted cutthroat cheerleaders make it out alive (spoiler alert?) leaving room for a sequel I wouldn’t mind sitting through. As slasher film parodies go, I haven’t had this much fun since Student Bodies. One gripe: the satire is frequently sharp and the laughter so well-earned, one regrets director/co-writer Tyler MacIntyre’s pandering reliance on special effects slaughter to amuse the striplings among us. Josh Hutcherson and Craig Robinson co-star. (2017) — Scott Marks
