What starts out as a spoof of the Cold War spy adventure ends up as a spoof of the Second World War underground adventure, with side trips into other genres along the way. The directorial triumvirate of Jim Abrahams, David Zucker, and Jerry Zucker (Airplane!, Airplane! and Airplane!) has come up with enough decent gags to jam-pack a Coming Attractions trailer. Which this would have been better left as. The decentest of the gags are in the trompe l'oeil category, but the filmmakers can't be credited with much visual acuity when the basic and constant image of their film is dull as ditchwater. With Val Kilmer and Lucy Gutteridge. (1984) — Duncan Shepherd
