Never judge a film by its trailer, except maybe consider making an exception in this case. If the thought of sexual stimulation involving oral contact with the anus in graphic close up goes down rougher than a popcorn husk lodged in the back of your throat, you might want to scratch this from the list of weekend movie options. Terrible acting is the order of the day, but it seems reasonable to assume that’s the point of this aged-in-camp juvenile sex satire. The Female Liberation Army operates out of what is alternately referred to as a girl’s school, halfway house for troubled young wymyn, and Big Mother’s Convent for man-hating lesbians. (Misandrist, for the confused, is the opposite of misogynist.) The talk turns to castration when word leaks of two roosters in the henhouse: a lost soldier who stumbles upon the place, and a transgender student. A dinner prayer thanking Goddess for not making them men and the onscreen descriptor “1999 Ger(wom)any” is about as robust as the satire gets. How bad of a comedy is it? Director Bruce LaBruce tries hard to be the next John Waters, but can’t even top D.E.B.S.. (2017) — Scott Marks
