The early stages of this spiders' uprising in rural Wisconsin -- real hairy bugs crawling around kitchen and bedroom -- are unpleasantly icky; then when the spiders attain the size and agility of parade floats, you can breath more easily, but you still can't find much to smile about. The players are all Fifties survivors (Steve Brodie, Barbara Hale, Leslie Parrish, Alan Hale, Jr.), and, except for their little sags of flesh, the only thing to pin this movie into its historical context is the line, "Have you seen that movie Jaws? Well, this makes that shark look like a goldfish!" Directed by Bill Rebane. (1975) — Duncan Shepherd
