Agreeably profane caper comedy from Guy Ritchie (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch) a man who tosses off the c-word as casually as you or I would sound asking a dinner companion to pass the salt. Matthew McConaughey stars as an American expatriate pot farmer in England, minding his own business until the day said business — a greenhouse responsible for 50 tons of weed a year — is knocked off by a band of tossers as interested in posting a video of their work on YouTube as they are in counting their earnings. (All this could have been prevented had the imperceivable shipping container that fronts the lab been supplied with a padlock.) Telegraphing dialogue, Tarantino-speak tributes, and a third act plot logjam are tantamount to bringing ants to the picnic, but there’s enough repellent on board so as not to bother or distract too much. With: Charlie Hunnam, Colin Farrell and Hugh Grant. (2020) — Scott Marks
