Jackie Chan stands curbside within inches of an exploding car, yet it’s his daughter inside the store who falls victim to an IRA terrorist attack. Martin Campbell’s implausible staging of the revenge-motivating blast sets the tone for this dopey but nonetheless entertaining goulash of equal parts Death Wish, Taken, and anything with Rambo in its title. Pierce Brosnan, never without a drink in his hand, stars as a rapacious terrorist-turned Irish Deputy Minister. He chomps away at the scenery while illimitable good guy Chan (who also produced) plays the mercenary with the heart of gold. Trained by US Special Forces, Jackie never curses, is prone to pathos, and, if given the choice, would prefer to permanently cripple or maim his adversaries rather than take a life. (That goes double for women and Irish setters.) Only one glass coffee table was harmed during the making of this picture. (2017) — Scott Marks
