Documentary-style drama about the real-life, high-risk team of photojournalists (two Pulitzers amongst them) working in the final days of Apartheid South Africa. There is a good deal of romanticizing over the plight of the photographer, at least in his most guerilla form, and the film raises some ethical questions regarding the intervention of a camera. Writer/director Steven Silver shoots with a grainy handheld and a penchant for following the action. Ryan Phillippe in the lead role is no master of the Afrikaans accent, but his inadequacies are somewhat absorbed by the static performances of the rest of the cast. (2011) — John Rubio
