Richard Linklater's tiresome three-character talkfest, taking place entirely in a Lansing motel room and in "real time," about What Really Happened ten years ago at the end of senior year in a teen romantic triangle. The stage origins of the piece -- a play by Stephen Belber -- are not disguised by the free-and-easiness of the digital-video camera (e.g., a couple of extended ping-pong rallies) nor by an image quality on a par with a convenience-store surveillance tape.
