A treat for classic rock aficionados, Anton Corbijn's documentary Squaring the Circle is an educational and wildly engaging exploration of Hipgnosis, the visionary artists behind several iconic album covers of the 1970s – including Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. The film sifts through various albums and bands, telling the offbeat story of each one’s creation through modern, black and white interviews that help to contrast the colorful vintage footage and album artwork. Led Zeppelin, The Animals, 10cc are a few of the bands featured, but the visual and sonic emphasis is on Pink Floyd. Given the recent arrival of AI art, the film makes it hard not to feel nostalgic for a lost era of creativity. (2023) — Ryan Brothers
