An anonymous young man, admitted to a comic-strip mental ward after an unsuccessful suicide attempt, enters into immediate competition with another of the inmates as to which of them is the real Jesus Christ. The failed suicide soon begins to manifest some actual power: an uncontrollable telepathic ability to transmit thoughts and dreams to those around him. Thus we get lots of scenes of people "seeing things": cockroaches in the fridge, blood from the lavatory taps, rats in the bedroom, and worse. Uncontrolled as this power is, it is difficult for us to understand who will feel the effects, when, why, and how much. A certain desire is aroused to find out the answers to these and other questions, and a certain frustration awaits. With Kathryn Harrold, Shirley Knight, and Zeljko Ivanek; directed by Roger Christian. (1982) — Duncan Shepherd
