A look at the divided city of Jerusalem through Muslim eyes, more specifically the eyes of a liberated Palestinian woman. Like Buster Keaton in Seven Chances, though for very different reasons, our protagonist has a nuptial deadline, Tuesday at four o'clock, and a list of approved candidates drawn up by her traditionalist father. She has her own idea, from off the list. The thin trickle of narrative is nevertheless eye-opening, even mind-broadening, about the setting; and it is graced by the multifaceted central performance of Clara Khoury, and a funny and touching finale. Not Keaton-funny, to be sure, but under the circumstances the effort is appreciated. Directed by Hany Abu-Assad. (2002) — Duncan Shepherd
