Some early and recurrent Belushisms (from brother James), such as the Instant Breakfast of chocolate powder mixed with Coca-Cola when the milk proves to be sour, retard our realization that we are in the midst of a would-be Blackboard Jungle. The dawn breaks for certain, albeit through persistent haze, when Belushi is gorily roughed up by a gang of black drug pushers. To know it's serious, however, isn't enough to take it that way: the desperate addiction to clichés (like the one about the teacher who gets a job at a Better School and then turns it down) puts a stop to that. With Lou Gossett, Jr., and Rae Dawn Chong; directed by Christopher Cain. (1987) — Duncan Shepherd
