Clemente (Bruno Odar) is a handsome, churlish money-lender in a poor section of Lima, Peru. His dull, cash-driven life changes when a baby is left to him (as payment?), and he recruits a devoutly Catholic debtor (Gabriela Velásquez) for childcare. Set during an October holy festival, this austerely observant, rather dryly amusing film by the Vega Vidal brothers, Daniel and Diego, is mainly about how people live by increments of money but crave something better. Like that dream, the movie is not for the impatient. (2011) — David Elliott
