Garbo should have laughed sooner. It would have spared us from suffering through all those dreadful M-G-M costume dramas. It took Ernst Lubitsch to thaw Garbo and for my money, this is the only one of her pictures you need see. With Melvyn Douglas, Bela Lugosi, and Sig Ruman. (1939) — Scott Marks
