Essay in "real time": a common man selected from the crowd at Union Station to assassinate the Governor of California is given an hour and a quarter to carry out the assignment (while his daughter is held hostage), and that's how long the movie has yet to run. The real-time idea is always an intriguing one (The Set-Up, High Noon, etc.), but every other idea in the movie is so head-swimmingly preposterous that it's impossible to concentrate. Johnny Depp, Christopher Walken, Marsha Mason, Charles S. Dutton; directed by John Badham. (1995) — Duncan Shepherd
