If you took shrooms and sat down to write a children’s book, you might end up with Moon Garden. This low budget fantasy horror induces a fever dream through its industrial practical effects and eerie creatures – think Nine Inch Nails meets Pan’s Labyrinth. The effect? A semi-hypnotic tale that shadows a young girl ensnared in a delirious coma as she descends deeper down the rabbit hole in search of a way home. A spatter of visually rich shots and one snippet of discerning dialogue are all that you’ll have to tide you over, but like a bad trip, it does get better if you lean into the experience.
