Daredevil ex-convict on the loose in Miami. After he steals a homicide cop's badge and gun (and false teeth), he becomes a sort of Superman in reverse, chasing off criminals in the act and then taking over their capers for himself. Directed by former Corman apostle George Armitage — an apostle left far behind by the likes of Jonathan Demme and Joe Dante — the movie veers wildly between dopey comedy and gruesome violence (the two tones come together most harmoniously in the stitching-together of a nasty cut over the eyebrow), and all the lead actors overact goofily: Alec Baldwin as the hardcase with a minimum-care, fuzzy-bear haircut; Jennifer Jason Leigh as the homebody hooker he sets up house with; and Fred Ward as the growlingly embarrassed cop.
