Rob Morrow's directing debut, casting himself as a New York artist with Tourette's Syndrome, an obsessive-compulsive disorder, and a major crush on the pregnant girlfriend of his oldest pal, an altruistic doctor ignorant of the pregnancy during his volunteer tour of duty in Burundi. Earnest effort, full of bad little ideas (concussive POV shots through the eyes of the afflicted artist, a slo-mo flashback to a childhood trauma, a split-screen telephone call, mood-setting pop songs on the soundtrack, etc.), besides the basic bad idea of the afflicted artist, the pregnant girlfriend, and the altruistic doctor. Morrow and Laura Linney put a lot into it, but that's not an inspiring sight. With Craig Sheffer. (2001) — Duncan Shepherd
