Marlon Brando left behind hundreds of hours of audio-taped autobiography (and some home movies) for documentary director Stevan Riley to effectively make over as the world’s first talking cyber-head documentary. What appears to be an unfledged 3D recreation of Brando’s head informs us that before his death, the actor posed for a digital transcription of his noggin, and said head functions as host and pseudo-narrator. Hooey! Instead of uncorking more of Brando’s canned brilliance, Riley wastes time with a mock video recreation in what’s easily this year’s biggest disappointment. So stunned by the spoken word is he that Riley pays zero tribute to the image, presenting the array of accompanying clips — flat or ‘Scope — in the same uniratio. That’s what happens when Showtime produces. Brando’s mumbly, seductively poetic insight is well worth listening to. Wait for the CD. (2015) — Scott Marks
