Trash, artily wrapped, by Robert Altman. A tiresome group of characters, real and unreal (each of the characters takes his or her name from one of the real-life actors in the film, but not from the one playing that role), dances in and out of a schizophrenic's imagination in a damp, moss-green Irish locale. The fractured mental state is signalled mostly in terms of handy clichés -- mirrors, jigsaw puzzle, etc. Susannah York, Rene Auberjonois, Marcel Bozzuffi. (1972) — Duncan Shepherd
