A grossly, crassly commercial "indie" in which a couple of escaped convicts boost an RV and are mistaken in the next town for its owners: homosexual impresarios of a kiddie talent contest, Little Miss Fresh Squeezed. From what we see of their masquerade it is hard to imagine how they pass the days. They have trouble enough just passing their screen time. (And where, this whole while, are the real impresarios? No buses in Texas? No telephones?) The cast is completely professional -- Jeremy Northam, Steve Zahn, Ally Walker, Illeana Douglas, M.C. Gainey, William H. Macy -- but only the last-named, as the town's closeted gay sheriff, earns any snickers. One or two. Directed by Mark Illsley. (1999) — Duncan Shepherd
