Computer-nerd wet dream of averting global disaster and foiling the corporate bad guys (most particularly the hackers' adult counterpart, the villainously bearded Fisher Stevens) during Senior Year in high school. And, for a lucky two, finding a soul mate in the bargain, namely (or nicknamely) Crash Override, formerly Zero Cool, finding Acid Burn, a match made in computer-date heaven: Crash and Burn. All of this takes place in a heady atmosphere of roller blades, video games, snappy repartee ("Blow me!"), computer animation, pixillation, archival-footage montages, and a background disco beat. In lesser roles, Jesse Bradford and Renoly Santiago afford the grown-ups in the audience a couple of reasons not to write off an entire generation. With Jonny Lee Miller, Angelina Jolie; directed by Iain Softley. (1995) — Duncan Shepherd
