The naked truth about Rev. Jim Jones and his Jonestown colony, or at least the truth scantily clothed in such pseudonyms as Rev. James Johnson, the not especially euphonious Johnsontown, and so on down the line. One could justifiably describe it as a surprisingly tame, though in no sense a tasteful, re-enactment of the story, with most of the hard information filled in verbally by an eye-witness narrator, a member of the Jonestown/Johnstontown congregation, who never appears on screen and who thereby reveals himself, if that's not a contradiction, as an obvious afterthought on the part of the filmmaker. With Stuart Whitman, Gene Barry, Yvonne De Carlo, Bradford Dillman, Joseph Cotten, and John Ireland; directed by Rene Cardona, Jr. (1980) — Duncan Shepherd
