The sequel to White Lightning was conceived as nothing larger than a tailor-made playsuit for Burt Reynolds (his most facile scene: a comic monolog recited as he slowly succumbs to a Mickey Finn), and it was directed by Reynolds himself with the sort of subservience to the star that you might expect from an apathetic hack. In this instance, subservience amounts to insufferable conceit. With Lauren Hutton, Jerry Reed. (1976) — Duncan Shepherd
